Fifa 2001 SWEDEN CLUBS QUALIFICATIONS

"IFK Half Way There"
This is one off the three tournaments in Fifa 2001, that will no put the winner straight in the final tournament. Winner from Sweden still has to play one more play-off game with winner from Danmark. 14 teams started for that one place and two of them were already put in the final four.

From the begining Hammarby and GAIS shown winning potential, not only playing good football, but also grabing confident results. Hammarby knockedout Helsingborg and GAIS had no trouble with Norrkoping. In the next round GAIS again took an easy win against Orebro but Hammarby did not able to beat Hacken, who were pretty defencive side right from the begining and not lost a goal second time in a row.





Trelleborgs did not looked strong on the paper but when they join the competition, team started to collect some impresive results. First they easily won with Sundvall and then left behind Orgryte, securing the place in the final four along with GAIS who won with Hacken.

In the final four there already were two other teams - Gothenburg and AIK, belived to be the strongest in the league. No questions ask about Gothenburg who did well and won with GAIS, who some had already seen as a winner of the whole tournament but AIK on the other had give their fans a sad suprise while losing 1:2 to Trelleborgs. In the last game it was all about Gothenburg. They really shown potential and proven that placing them in the final four was not a bad call. Easy win by 3 goals and now they can only wait for the results from Danmark.
