Michael Blacos

Michael Blacos (Brazil) - Former profesional player. Begin his carrier in Gremio, but since he could not find a place in the first team for two years he decided to go to Europe. Played in Greece for Larissa from where he was transfered to Portugal Boavista. He played in Boavista for three years. After that he played in French Saint-Entienne, Guingamp and Lorient. Ended his carrier in Portugal second league. After retirement he went back to Brazil and become second coach of Sport Recife. After two years first coach left the club and Blacos took his place...

He worked for Sport Recife for only one season and was fired due to bad results. He decided to go back to Europe and started working for Victoria Guimaraes. After compleating his two year contract (10th and 4th place in Portugal League) he took the job in Sporting Braga, what soon turned out to be a bad decision. After bad season in Braga he was dimissed and returned to Brazil where he started to work for Corinthians. In this two years period he twice won the Brazil State Championship, also become Brazil National Champion and got the 3rd place in the Club World Cup.

SEASON 2000/01 CORINTHIANS CM 00/01

Michael Blacos was appointed as a new coach of Corinthians in June 2000. The club was in the middle of the season and in the middle of campain that should end with the third title in a row. Brazilian league has a very weird system o fixtures. First teams play in their regions, then in National League and finally there are play-offs like in NBA.

Sao Paulo State Championship 00/01 - WINNER
Corintians played in Sao Paulo State Championship, they finished second in the league stage and were playing in the playoffs. When I started working with the team I had to face Sao Paulo in the final of the playoffs. 

First game at home was my debout. Corinthians won 2:0 after two goals scored by Luizao. In the second game few days later Sao Paulo managed to make the aggregate even afeter 38 minutes. But it was Andrezinho goal in 44 minute that made it 1:2 and since that score did not change I won my first trophy with Corinthians after just a 10 days of work.

This is not the South Amercan version of Champions League, Copa Libertadores is. Corinthians reached the quater final of Libertadores but not under my managing. Copa Merosur seems to be a cup were only Brazilian and Argentinian teams play.
