FIFA 2003 - Regional Club Qual. - Belgium

In Belgium we got 18 teams in the league so here is what we gonna do. 16 teams will compete in two 8 tournaments and each of them will give us one winner. So we got 2 finalists. But what about 2 other teams. This teams will be Anderlecht and Club Brugge considered to be the strongest in the league (by game stats). This 2 teams will join those two turnament's winners and a final tournament will contain 4 teams. Complicated? Maybe a bit, but seems fair.

"Goalfest in Belgium"
Belgium started slowly and in the first round there weren't many teams who looked like they will be able to compete for the place in the finals. Only Charleroi left a good impression after two easy wins against Mons. But in the second round things start to get going really heavy. Gent, Lommel and Antwerp shown good potential and again Charleroi didn't give any chance to their opponents, mainly thanks to great form of their super stiker Aluspah, who already scored seven goals.

In the third round Gent run over Lommel thanks to "Greek God of Destruction" - Kaklamanos, who scored all six goals in the game and out of nowhere became the top striker in the tournament. Meanwhile Charleroi found a bigger fish as they lost with Antwerp and Ibrahim Yattara who seemed to be in a lifetime form. Anderlecht and Brugge joined in semi finals, but only one of those team could go to the final. After a boring first leg, Anderlecht took advantage of the revange and eaisly put themselfs in the last game after 3:0 win. Antwerp lost the first game against Gent 0:2 but in the second leg they had no mercy and after a shocking 5:0 win put themselfs next to the Anderlecht.

The decicive game was na much of a show. Both teams focused on destroing opponents attacks and the only goal came in the last minutes from Korean international Hyeon, who though beaing indured and waiting to be substituted still managed to pull off a great dribbling and score the winne. No supprise in Belgium as the strongest team on the paper wins the place in the final on the pitch.
